Dog obedience training is an important part of owning a dog as it helps to ensure your dog knows how to behave in different situations. The next step you should take after figuring out the know-hows ofobedience training is knowing and understanding how your dog learns. This way you will be able to facilitate the optimal training setting for your dog to learn. 

Types of Dog Obedience Training

 

1. Reward Training

One of the most essential types ofdog training is reward training. Reward training as the name implies uses rewards to reinforce gooddog behaviour and is more commonly used to teach commands and tricks. When it comes to the reward in reward training, the first thing that pops into many pet parents' minds are treats. However, rewards given for displaying gooddog behaviour can also come in forms such as verbal praises, a game of fetch or a belly rub.

2. Leash Training

Leash training definitely helps when you are figuring outhow to get your dog to stop pulling or tugging on the leash but it also serves as a way of communication and helps to form and build a relationship where both you and your dog respect each other. Soft pulls on the leash and rewarding your dog with treats duringleash training would help your dog to regain focus and not get overly excited or startled by their surroundings during walks.

3. Games Training

Games might seem like the opposite of training but they actually make for great training techniques.Dog obedience games can be applied or integrated to other types of training like reward or leash training. Obedience games actually help keep your dog active and engaged, they also bring in more fun to training time. By keeping your dog active and engaged it also means less of their energy is spent on creating trouble or a mess somewhere else.

It’s important to take note of which type suits your dog best and stick to it. Overall,dog obedience training should be an enjoyable process that helps to build a strong relationship between you and your dog.
